Comments: I had previously seen another orthopedic surgeon at another facility to have my knee evaluated and spoke with a couple of his former patients. I was not at ease and decided to seek a second opinion. Based on a radio commercial and a conversation with an acquaintance of mine I decided to make an appointment at Orthopedics of Wisconsin - Pewaukee. When I made the appointment I was assigned to Dr. Mick Kelly - and could not be happier with that choice. My first meeting with Dr. Kelly was very informative, his mannerisms showed how much he truly cares about his patients and their success with the surgery & recovery. He answered all questions in terms I could easily understand. My surgery was scheduled for 7/6/23 and it would be done at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital as an extra precaution due to the defibulator implant that I have. The hospital staff that works with Dr. Kelly were exceptional. The surgery went as planned, recovery time was minimal, evaluation after recovery to make sure it was safe to go home was complete and well done. I left for home late that afternoon. Once home I began to receive daily texts, 3 times a day, from Dr. Kelly to make sure I was okay and to encourage me to work on my daily at home exercises - these texts contined for 7 weeks. Three days after my complete knee replacement surgery I began physical therapy that supplemented and expanded my daily exercise routine. I continued physical therapy every three days for 6 weeks. By end of my second week my knee was pain free and I no longer took any medications for pain except an occasional tylenol. By the end of my third week I drove 7 hours to my daughters house in Michigan. By then I was back to mowing lawns and other outside activities as long as I let my knee to me what was acceptable. I also continued with daily, several times a day, icing to control swelling. At my 6 week post op evaluation by Dr. Kelly his comment was "if I didn't know better I would think you were 3 months post op, not 6 weeks". To say I am completely satisfied with my surgery, Orthopedics of Wisconsin and especially Dr. Mick Kelly is an understatement. I highly recomment for anyone that needs knee replacement surgery to check out Orthopedics of Wisconsin and especially Dr. Mick Kelly
