What is Cervical Pain (Neck Pain)?

Cervical Neck PainCervical Pain, Neck Pain or Neck Stiffness can be caused by many things.
  • Poor Posture, Slouching
  • Herniated Cervical Disk
  • Holding your neck in uncomfortable positions for long periods of time
  • Repeating the same neck movements throughout the day
  • Sleeping in a bad position
  • Injury
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Spinal Stenosis
Your neck or your cervical spine, is composed of vertebrae that goes from your head or skull to your upper body. There are cervical disks that absorb shock between the vertebrae. If your cervical disks are damaged from an injury or from normal wear and tear, you will experience cervical pain.

Generally, neck pain is not serious and can be treated with rest and time. However, if your cervical neck pain is caused by an injury or illness, you will need to speak to a specialist. Typically if your neck pain is severe, or if it continues for more than a week, or if you have other symptoms, you want to contact a cervical spine pain specialist or your Doctor right away.

Cervical Spine Pain Symptoms

Cervical neck pain is a common medical condition that can arise from many different sources. It is important to get proper guidance to determine what exactly is causing your neck pain and what the best methods are to treat it.

Cervical pain is most commonly associated with a dull aching sensation. The pain can intensify with movement of the cervical spine. Cervical pain can be associated with headaches as well as facial pain, shoulder pain and arm numbness or tingling.
